    About this adaptation

The 105-scene screenplay is condensed to fifteen key moments. Savitribai was about nine and Jyotirao about thirteen when they married, so the childhood scenes stay playful and a time-jump shows them grown before the romantic and revolutionary scenes.

The violence in the script, including the burning, the assault on the widow and the stones thrown at Savi, is shown through glow, smoke and reactions rather than on screen, so the film can be shown in schools.
